Hero of the Week

My hero this week is Rudy Giuliani! Several days ago, while speaking in New Hampshire, he told people that if the Democrats get the White House in 2008, they will put the country back on defensive mode, the way we were before 9/11. He elaborated on that more, and basically said that we would be much less safe if a Democrat is elected. I agree with him, wholeheartedly! And, when criticized for his comments, he stuck by them, and repeated them! It was awesome!
The Democrats want defeat in Iraq. They desire to talk with and appease the terrorists. As Rush says, “they own defeat.” Heck, according to Harry “stab our troops in the back” Reid, the war is already lost. (Yet ANOTHER reason I don’t care for Harry Reid.)
Anyhow, I was very impressed with the comments Giuliani made about needing to be on offense in order to protect the country. I was more impressed when he didn’t back down, but just reiterated his comments, when he was attacked for them. Bravo to Rudy on this one!

However, even though I’ve been impressed with Giuliani’s ability to stick it to the Democrats, and the media (who wouldn’t admire that?), I’m still strongly supporting Mitt Romney.

Jerk of the Week

Along with the hero of the week, this week I have to include an entry on Jerk of the Week.
Jerk #1 is NBC News! It is utterly despicable that they would run the video of the crazy lunatic killer at Virginia Tech! First of all, it was only 2 days after the attack. If they had to run it, why so soon? Why not let the nation, and especially the families of the victims, to mourn for a while first? Second, they are giving the guy just what he wanted, fame. They are playing right into his hands. They are also paving the way for those other sickos out there that think they might want to do the same thing. They send the message that if you do this kind of thing, you will get fame and glory.
Their whole reason for airing this, over and over again I might add, is pure and simple ratings. They may claim that this was a hard decision, but I don’t buy it! They aired it only a couple hours after receiving it. That is hardly time to make such a “difficult decision!”
I can’t believe that they could be so amazingly callus! Well, actually I can. This is what the left-wing media does. They exploit for their own gain. It is just sick what they have done!

Applauds to the families of the victims that were going to be on the Today Show this morning, but backed out after NBC aired this! I wouldn’t go on any NBC show after such a blatant disregard for the feeling of those affected.
Applauds also to those stations that did not air this garbage! I think all the television networks aired it, but many radio shows did not. Applauds to Neal Boortz, Rush Limbaugh, and Sean Hannity, who refused to air any of the audio.

Jerk #2 is the crazy liberals who are against the Supreme Court decision to uphold the ban on partial birth abortions. I don’t understand how anyone, regardless of their stance on abortion, could be in favor of this. Partial birth abortion is probably the most heinous things I’ve ever heard of! It is absolutely sick, and anyone who would oppose a ban on it is also sick. I would go so far as to say that if they are against this ban, then they are in favor of murdering children. That’s what this is. If you are unfamiliar with the procedure, look it up. It is disgusting!

Hero of the Week

This week, my hero of the week is one of the victims of Monday’s tragedy at Virginia Tech University. Professor Liviu Librescu was 76 years old. He had been at Virgina Tech since 1985. On Monday morning, he held the door to his classroom shut, with his body, allowing the students in the room to jump out the window to safety. After the last student was out, he was over powered by the killer, and shot to death. His tremendous act of heroism saved the lives of many students. From what I’ve read about him, he lived an honorable life, and in my opinion, he died an honorable death.
This man gave everything for his fellow man. That is to be honored!

Such a horrible tragedy

I just wanted to express my feelings about the terrible shootings at Virginia Tech today. When I heard what had happened, my heart absolutely broke. I can’t imagine someone being so troubled that they feel they have to kill other people. I can’t imagine being one of the students whose last moments on this earth were spent lined up and shot. I can’t imagine being any of the other students at the University. I can’t imagine being the families of those students. It is so tremendously sad what has happened. Over 30 innocent lives taken, for what? It is absolutely awful. I’m so sorry for those affected by this tragedy! I hope they will be able to find the peace and comfort they need at this time.

I’ve decided to start a new thing on here, called my Hero of the Week. Nearly every week, someone somewhere does something that makes me think, “that’s awesome!” or “way to go!” Usually it’s someone in politics, but not always. Anyway, I just think it will be fun.
This week, I actually have 2.
The first one is Carl Levin. Yep, the Democrat! “How could a democrat be my hero of the week?” you ask. Ahh, let me tell you. Anyone that throws Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid “under the bus” is a hero in my book! Sunday, Levin was on George Stephanopoulos’ show, and said that they would fund the troops, that they always fund the troops. Now, isn’t this going against the Democrat party leadership. In his comments he basically discounted all this hype the Dems have been building for the last few weeks about not funding the troops without a ton of conditions. This just made me chuckle. I wonder what Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid thought when they heard him. He pulled the rug out from under all the ultra-lib people who thought that the troops wouldn’t get the funding they need. HA!
Hero of the Week number 2 is the North Carolina Attorney General, Roy Cooper. He stuck it to Mike Nifong, the former DA in the Duke la cross rape case. Among other things, he called Nifong “rouge” and said the cases against the la cross players were “result of a tragic rush to accuse and a failure to verify serious allegations.” He went on to chronicle the terrible way that this case was handled. Clearly, Nifong is guilty of gross misconduct that should not only have him disbarred, but facing criminal or civil charges. In an effort to save face today, Nifong tried to offer an apology for his actions, but in my opinion, he didn’t really succeed. These men had their lives ruined for a year, because Nifong screwed up! Their reputation could be permanently tarnished. That is ridiculous. By the way, I also believe the accuser should face false accusation charges, but it has already been decided that she won’t. Anyway, Roy Cooper deserves a big round of applause for the way he handled this! (Guess what, he’s a Democrat too! – What the heck is going on here? Guess it just goes to show you that they aren’t all bad.)

I love Easter! It is one of my favorite holidays! Not because of all the chocolate and jelly beans (which I definitely enjoy), but because of the glorious meaning of Easter.
On Easter we celebrate that Jesus Christ broke the bands of death, and was resurrected. We celebrate that because of Christ, we too can have Eternal Life and Exaltation. Because of His glorious sacrifice for us, and then His resurrection, we can be made whole. This is a wondrous time for me. I love to think about what it must have been like to be there, looking for the Savior’s body, and then told by angels that He wasn’t there; that He had risen! Can you imagine? It must have been a wonderful thing! I just love the story of Easter!
It’s been said that without Easter there would be no Christmas. I believe this is absolutely true. If Christ hadn’t died and been resurrected, we would have no reason to celebrate His birth. It would have been for naught. But, because he did, we can be resurrected too. We can return to live with Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father again, in a beautiful and glorified state. What could be more spectacular than that?!

I wish everyone a very happy Easter!

I want to include the Easter story, found in the last chapter of Matthew, verses 1-10.
1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.
5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.
9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
10 Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.

Also, I have a favorite Easter song, taken from the Primary Songbook – Did Jesus Really Live Again? Check it out.
Here is a picture of us ready to go to Church this morning. Adam was behind the camera.

Al Gore seems to have paved the way for all the “global warming” nuts. In his film An Inconvenient Truth, he supposedly explains all the terrible and horrible effects of “man-made” global warming. Sadly, it’s full of exaggeration and non-factual things. Even Gore admits this, but basically says that the idea of it is true. How can we believe something that is full of false facts and exaggerations? Gore, himself, doesn’t abide by the standards of “green” living that he has set forth for the rest of civilization, but that doesn’t stop the left. They are constantly nagging us about how we live, and being carbon friendly. They even have a new thing, championed by Gore himself, about how if you use a ton of energy, you can purchase carbon offsets. What a crock!
Let’s remind everyone, these are the same people that 30 years ago were worried about another Ice Age! Global cooling was the chief worry of the time. What people don’t realize is that the earth NATURALLY goes through periods of heating and cooling, all by itself. As human beings, we grossly overestimate our impact on the planet. We’re cooler now than when the dinosaurs were roaming the earth. There were no SUV’s then, or regular light bulbs, or other things the left claims to be destroying our planet.
One might find it interesting to look at the different environmental “scares” over the last hundred or so years.
Also, in contrast to Al Gore’s movie, here’s one the BBC (of all groups) produced.
People need to remember that because some scientists have reached a “consensus” that global warming is man-made, there are just as many scientists that believe quite the opposite. Science isn’t about consensus, it’s about fact. The fact is that man-made global warming cannot be proven. I haven’t even seen anyone try to test the theory.
Also, I have a HUGE problem with schools forcing students, and in some cases parents, to watch Gore’s movie. Schools seem bent on teaching and preaching this man-made global warming stuff, but don’t seems to want to present any opposing view. This is simply wrong. I’ll tell you this, if my children are ever forced into this kind of garbage, and fed false information masqueraded as fact, I will throw the biggest fit that school or teacher has ever seen. I refuse to let my children be a party to that. If it’s going to be taught in school, BOTH sides should be presented.
So, before you go getting all worried about being the cause of the planet’s destruction, get all the facts.
