Snow!

Well, we actually got snow today!  May not sound like a big thing to some, but for Vegas, it’s pretty rare.  So, we were pretty excited.  It snowed for over 4 hours!  The kids watched out the window yelling, “Snow!”  I let them go out for a couple minutes to see if they could catch some on their tongues, and they enjoyed that.  It didn’t stick on the ground here, but it did in other areas of the valley.  Since I don’t have a battery for my camera, I couldn’t get any pictures.  Plenty were sent into our local news stations, though, and I’ll share a few of them with you.  (Taken from Channel 3 and Channel 8.)

snow-6     snow-7     snow-8  (This is just down the street from us.)

Questions

So, I found in my garage a book I had when I was younger called The Book of Questions, by Gregory Stock, Ph.D.  I remember that I used to sit with my mom and step-dad and we would pick questions out of here, and discuss them.  It almost always led to a great conversation and we had a fun time.  So, I thought it might be fun to put some of them up here, and see what people have to say.

We’ll start with a fun one.hammock

If you could take a one-month trip anywhere in the world and money were not a consideration, where would you go and what would you do?

Truth Time

So, who knew the truth about me?  Nobody!!  Ha!  I got you all!

Here’s the truth:

1.  I’ve met John Porter and Harry Reid.   (FALSE!!!  I’ve never met Harry Reid.)

2.  My mom and I once missed a freeway exit and ended up in Missouri, instead of her parents’ house in Oklahoma.   (TRUE.  That’s an interesting story.)

3.  I voted for Al Gore in 2000.   (TRUE!!  Sadly, I feel hook, line, and sinker for the “Bush is bad, and Gore will save the planet and education, garbage that the media put out there.  Thankfully, I’ve seen the light!!)

4.  In high school, I ditched school because I was out all night observing the sky and watching for the comet Hale-Bopp.   (FALSE!!  I know it sounds like me, but even in the midst of all the Hale-Bopp hype, I never stayed out all night to watch it.  I did once go with our Astronomy Club on an overnight observing of the Leonid meteor shower (which was awesome), which we were excused from school for the next day.)

5.  I have a terrible fear of heights that once caused me to freak out on an escelator at Macy’s, and not be able to go up to the third floor.   (TRUE.  I’m pretty sure it was Macy’s.  And, I was really, really scared.  Heights and I do not get along!)

6.  In high school, I once danced on stage to the Jackson 5’s “ABC.”   (TRUE!  Surprising, but I did do this with my ward during a stake activity.  I’ve got to tell you, it was pretty embarrasing, too.)
